Religion is a candle inside a multicolored lantern. Everyone looks through a particular color, but the candle is always there. ~Mohammed Naguib

a nice surprise

I received a lovely email from Chel yesterday to tell me that I was the featured artist on the ZNE (a wonderful community of mixed media artists) blog. She wrote a very nice bio and I was really pleased and surprised to be featured! Thanks Chel!!!! XXXOOO

the lantern makers

There is paper so sheer
it cannot hold a whisper,
though it bears a bamboo curve
and the weight of brushstrokes.
When the candles are lit
the lanterns' glow floats
upon the summer air
like a song of golden light.

how water shapes us

Solitude is a river where we lie
like stones in its bed, seeing
only the blur of branches- lush,
browned, bare, budding.
The water is always cold,
always swift, never low
enough that we might speak.
We are mired in our beloved

seclusion, drowned in liberty.
I see you as a mirror, imagine
the curve of your back
is mine. The current works
to smooth us into twins,
polish us to dark obscurity.
We call this devotion and wonder

why we are not blessed.
Everyone knows that
rocks do not move
of their own accord,
so we wait for some mighty hand
to plunge beneath the river’s skin
and hurl us into destiny.

The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell you.
Don't go back to sleep.
You must ask for what you really want.
Don't go back to sleep.
People are going back and forth across the doorsill where two worlds touch. The round door is open.
Don't go back to sleep.

I'm working at the shop today & tomorrow. The big mulberry is in full bloom and white petals drift into the door all day. The Square is beautiful now that spring is here. Not a bad gig.

First thing tomorrow morning I have an appointment with a buyer for my pendants. Laura usually buys twice as many as she sets out to, so my visits with her are very profitable. The fact that she is extremely witty is a delightful bonus. She and I really should go out for coffee or something, as we make a hilarious pair. She's almost a foot taller than me... but who isn't? Her shop is just around The Square (photo above), so I can meet with her and then dash off to the shop.

Isn't this the most amazing blog on earth?

glass beach

I have heard about the seaglass
found in a cove at the end
of Elm Street. Amid the rust
and pebbles a muted confetti
is strewn. Pick up a piece
for me. Slip in in your pocket.
Later find a place
where the morning light
might coax its dull gleam,
perhaps an eastern sill.
If you think of it, I like blue.

one small step...

Made it back to the gym last night. Kate and I strolled on the treadmill a bit and churned away on that damned eliptical until my guts screamed (10 minutes... lol!). I am glad to feel well enough to go even it can hardly be called a workout.

The weather contunues to be breathtakingly gorgeous!!! Joy!!!

I am off to McKinney to help Juli at the shop for a few hours.

I dreamed a very fine ending for my novel... well, I had the ending, but it was garbled in places. In my dream it unfolded just right. Now to write it down... lol! That's the secret, eh? ... that writing it down part... grin...

This weather makes me JUBILANT! And I found some lovely beaded crystal chain for my pendants.

Is that not the cutest Goddess you have ever seen? She is Chitra Devi and I think her outfit rocks!

Off to embrace this BEAUTIFUL day!

The building straight ahead with the columns is where I work. It's an old bank and the vaults, marble walls and soaring windows are really gorgeous. Lucky me. I get paid to hang out in this beautiful, historical building which is now a lovely shop.... off to work...
