nothing but blue skies
when it rains...
Well, I have to be glad for this rain, though it is not easy to be thankful for the gloom. I know how much we need it so I am trying to feel cozy, not bummed out. I have a zillion lamps on (one of my favorite things... lamps and little golden pools of light) and it is not so bad. A good day to make art... so I shall.

trying...
I've never loved fall... but I do remember shuffling through the fallen leaves on Duke's east campus and feeling so incredibly alive. I felt that delicious way you feel at 17 with everything ahead of you. Every leaf that fell was a possibility. I gather the recollection of that sweet promise around me now.

Focking A!!!

wtf...
egads! Tonight we meet the Fockers! Yes, the in-laws-to-be are joining us for dinner. Holy sh*t!!! Maybe we're the Fockers?? Who knows? Am I ready for this? uhhh... no.
I've washed my salt shakers and dusted my dead bug collection.
God, please let them have a sense of humor! I can bear anything if I can find some humor in it. And I usually can.
Hey, is it just me, or does it look like that dog/bird shit a butter patty???

seeing things
Always the pretty things would catch
her eye, winged or spangled,
bright against a cold sky
or smudged in smoky ells.
Her eyes drank the willow’s bark
and rings of rusty keys.
Even shut they saw the hart’s fine coat
and the sparkle of spilt coins.
Sleep revealed its own polished visions
of velvet and amber, copper and thorn.
Behind her eyes colors were born,
grey dust spun in splendid swirls.
She was caught in daylight
with the simplest of lures,
nothing but glittered water,
and there she stepped willingly.

I see the moon...
I've just finished soldering a mountain of pendants. Feels like there's an ax in my back, but I'm glad to have completed this batch. I found some wonderful wire-wrapped lampwork beads and they look great on the pendants. My brain is on idle... probably from the fumes. Nasty stuff.
I work tomorrow which is a good thing.
I'm insanely tired... goodnight moon.
